Royal College of Surgeons
I recently ran a workshop at the Royal College of Surgeons about psychological trauma
Exploring the causes
How it impacts communication
How a trauma informed approach enhances leadership
And what we could do differently
It was such a privilege to create a safe, non judgmental space to explore these themes and concepts, to find new ways of connecting, communicating, understanding.
To be able to share my experiences and understanding in this space, and contribute to creating change in my profession feels, of course, important, and this is what I love to do.
But I was also surprised at how nervous I was.
Because actually it’s personal.
For my 50 year old self, to be helping make the change my younger self wanted to see…. This was so important. The junior doctor me would have been super proud.
Alone we can thoughts but together we create change.
