“Susanna's Trauma Sense programme is an absolute must for anyone working in a healing or helping capacity with other humans. Even if you think you are already trauma aware, you'll learn more and see new nuances and become better for your clients. Since most people have experienced trauma, it's vital that your help can go beyond empathy or compassion, and instead you can understand the neuroscience of trauma that drives the patterns of behaviour in your clients - and how to shift their neuroplasticity towards post-traumatic growth.” - Emily Jacob

“I am much more aware of how trauma could be impacting my clients, and how to recognise it and respond and guide; signposting the limitations of coaching was especially helpful. Also hugely useful was the session around managing my own response to clients' experience and my energy as a coach.” - Fiona Lafferty, Editor & Coach

I learnt so much about how to recognise trauma; how to support those with trauma and when to refer on. My confidence in supporting those with trauma has increased and I'm regularly using what I have learnt on the course. The course is very practical and the ability to discuss cases in a group and have Susanna's expert guidance and insights from other participants was invaluable.” - Becki Taylor-Smith, Doctor & Coach

“I would recommend this course to every coach as it gives you such a good understanding of how trauma occurs, how to recognise signs of trauma and how to support those with trauma without exacerbating the situation. It also gives great ideas on being a role model for looking after oneself and ones mental health which will impact all those around you, especially children. In my opinion if this content was taught to everyone the world would become a much better place for everyone to flourish in without the high levels of trauma responses that we have in society today.” - Gillian Hardy, Coach

“As a coach I have become increasingly aware of my coaching clients bringing what felt like topics for counselling/therapy to sessions. The question of coaching vs counselling is one that I think all coaches hold and battle with at times. For me I really wanted to be able to do more for my coaching clients and I felt that simply referring someone to therapy was not enough.

“Through attending the Trauma Sense Programme I have increased my understanding and awareness of what trauma is and how it can show it in coaching sessions. I have developed a level of calmness in how to respond and support clients that show signs of trauma.

“I have also gained personal insights of my own trauma and increased awareness of how I show up as a coach.

“I think it is vital that every coach has input on trauma and how to respond as a coach and would definitely recommend this course. It has been such a safe and inclusive space to learn in and I really looked forward to attending the workshops.” - Katherine Chowdry, Coach

“Its not about ‘what is wrong with you.?’.. lets ask ‘what has happened to you?’

“This course should be an essential component of all counselling and coaching training. I also passionately believe it should be introduced as part of secondary school education, medical student training and to all health care professionals and teachers as trauma is so prevalent and manifests in so many areas of life.

“In medicine, patients are often let down when their symptoms and illnesses are only partially understood or addressed only within the constraints of traditional medical pathogenesis and/or diagnoses. They can be over investigated or inappropriately treated, and inadvertently harmed by these processes. We need to be trauma - informed to deliver holistic patient centred care as well as recognising and accepting our own personal trauma histories in order to be effective, objective, compassionate healthcare professionals.

“I am so grateful to Susanna for championing this vital area of education.” - Frances Rossouw

“I wanted to share my reflections, experience and some helpful details should any other coaches out there be looking for a programme which supports you in not only being trauma aware but also trauma informed in your practice.

“Before the programme, I would have said that I was trauma aware through previous RTT training coupled with my own extensive research. The Trauma Sense programme has provided a firmer grounding and understanding on this complex subject resulting in feeling more informed, mindful and equipped.

“Every aspect of the Trauma Sense programme was of value. I enjoyed the process of validating what I already knew, deepening my learning through personal reflection, candid contributions from others and one to one time with Susanna. Learning practical ways to ensure a safe practice whether working privately or whilst engaging with organisations, groups or teams has been crucial and invaluable. I also felt the programme was inclusive in the way it has been mindfully brought to life for those with a non clinical background.” - Joanne Cook

“Trauma-sense is a MUST for any coaches (and medical professionals). Trauma shows up in so many ways, but most importantly is often at the root of many disease dynamics, whether physical or mental. Supporting clients or patients navigate trauma is crucial to their healing journey. The course provides a great balance between theory and practical advice, with a lot of compassionate sharing from Dr Susanna Petche and the participants that reinforce the learning.” - Caroline Lamont

“Susanna combines deep knowledge, research and understanding with a presenting style that is engaging and approachable.

“As a coach I have gained numerous insights and studying this course has raised my confidence will inform all of my future coaching. I now feel better able to spot psychological trauma and know how to notice and respond when it comes up.

“This course delivers exceptional content presented naturally and compassionately and should be compulsory training!” - Adrienne Say, Coach

Would you recommend Trauma-Sense?

“Absolutely yes! This programme has been so helpful in deepening my coaching skills and understanding how they can support clients with trauma, without needing to fix anything. In particular it has been so important for me to learn how I can support clients with the ongoing trauma of the climate and ecological crisis, which is so prevalent in the work that I do. I feel more confident about when to refer a client and when I can support them. It has also been incredibly empowering and healing at a personal level. I highly recommend this training to all coaches, especially those working with environmentally conscious clients.” - Kath Allen

“I really enjoyed the course and found it very informative. Susanna was able to deliver some complex and detailed knowledge in a very clear and accessible way which made it easier to understand and grasp. It also felt like a safe space to share. Would you recommend Trauma-Sense?

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Already recommending. Such important awareness for coaches. Coaching is often the first time people open up in a 'talking/listening' space so it can surface trauma and we MUST be prepared for that and do everything we can to support and not further damage our clients.

“I would so highly recommend this course for any practicing or trainee coach. Susanna's warmth and her passion for this topic make the programme compelling, highly informative and so useful. I really believe this course covers vital information for every coach.” - Caroline Doran, Coach

“I use it all the time in my professional work as a coach and trainer; also, for engaging with friends and colleagues who are struggling.

“I volunteer to run workshops in schools and it's now very obvious that trauma is embedded into a significant percentage of our children - particularly in deprived areas. This has opened up some really interesting conversations about the way we "do" education in this country - and how best to help those who are presenting with trauma symptoms while also trying to learn or even just get through the school day.

“For me, Susanna strikes the perfect balance of embodying profound compassion with unwavering evidence-based authenticity and resoluteness. As a scientist by background, I want my facts grounded in peer-reviewed data - not TikTok pseudoscience - so it's critically important for me that I can trust what Susanna says and follow up on the references!” - Dr Vanessa Collingridge, Coach & Trainer
